““Russia has created an energy crisis on the right bank of the Dniester after its unprecedented attempts to interfere in the elections and referendum in Moldova, which turned out to be unsuccessful””, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
Sandu noted that “Russia, after its unprecedented attempts to interfere in the elections and referendum in Moldova, which turned out to be unsuccessful, created an energy crisis on the right bank of the Dniester.”
“This is a calculated strategy. Russia seeks to create social and economic chaos, inflame tensions on the Dniester and install a pro-Kremlin government in Chisinau. Its ultimate goal is to consolidate its military presence illegally deployed in the Transnistrian region and use Moldova against Ukraine. President Zelenskyi, dear people of Ukraine, be sure that Moldova will fight back,” Sandu said.
She assured that Moldova will remain a “reliable neighbor and steadfast supporter of Ukraine.”
“President Zelenskyi and I discussed solutions to prevent this energy crisis from becoming a security crisis. “Moldova and Ukraine will work together and with the EU to protect people on both banks of the Dniester from Russian blackmail,” the president of Moldova said.
According to Sandu, “the parties also confirmed their joint commitment to the peaceful reintegration of Moldova, the key prerequisite of which is the withdrawal of Russian troops illegally stationed on Moldovan territory.”
The President of Moldova, Maya Sandu, arrived in Kyiv on Saturday, January 25.
Earlier, on December 24, the inauguration ceremony of Maia Sandu as the President of Moldova took place in Chisinau. The current pro-Western president of Moldova defeated the Russia-friendly candidate Oleksandr Stoianoglo in the second round of voting on November 3.
Elections in Moldova were accompanied by claims of Russian interference and falsification.
Moscow, without providing evidence, claims that the vote was unfair and refuses to recognize Sanda as the country’s legitimate president. International observers said that the elections were “efficient and professional”.
