“Today, the first decisions were made to restart Energoatom NPP. The government prematurely terminated the powers of the company’s Supervisory Board,” she said.
Yuliya Svyridenko emphasized that after the corporate governance reform, “the full range of levers of influence, from the appointment of management to the control of the company’s activities, rests with the Supervisory Board.”
“The supervisory board must be responsible for the situation in the company,” the head of government noted.
Svyridenko also instructed the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture to submit the new composition of the Supervisory Board for government approval within a week after consultations with international partners.
“The task of the new team is to quickly restart the management, conduct a full audit of the company and provide comprehensive assistance to law enforcement agencies in the investigation of facts of possible corruption,” the Prime Minister noted.
In addition, she instructed the State Audit Service to conduct an urgent audit of “Energoatom”, including procurement. She added that the audit materials will be handed over to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies.
A few hours before the government’s decision to draw up powers, a member of the Supervisory Board, ex-Minister of Economy Tymofiy Mylovanov, hastily announced in an attempt to be the first to escape from the “sinking ship”.
“I submit my credentials as a member of the Supervisory Board of Energoatom,” he wrote on Facebook, attaching a photocopy of his statement to the address of the former chairman of the company’s Supervisory Board, Yarek Neverovych.
It should be noted that the competition for the positions of members of the Supervisory Board of “Energoatom” in 2024 was announced by the Ministry of Economy, at that time headed by Yulia Svyridenko.
Scandal at EnergoatomAs UNIAN reported, on November 10 NABU and SAP conducted a large-scale operation to expose corruption in the energy sector. Members of the criminal organization created a large-scale corruption scheme to influence strategic state enterprises, in particular JSC NAEK Energoatom.
Law enforcement officers searched Energoatom and Justice Minister Galushchenko.
According to the investigation, the criminal organization systematically received illegal benefits from the contractors of “Energoatom” in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of the contracts.
Later, NABU informed about the suspicion of involvement in the scheme of a number of persons, including, according to the media, former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov.
In turn, the Ministry of Energy reacted to the large-scale corruption scandal in the energy sector, assuring that all those involved will be held accountable.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, also reacted to the exposure of the corruption scheme and called on government officials to cooperate with NABU and law enforcement officers.
