This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland Cezary Tomczyk, RMF24 reports.
He clarified that it is about 6-8 planes out of 14 MiGs that are in Poland. Tomchyk emphasized that Poland will receive Ukrainian unmanned technologies in return. According to him, the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine will not affect the country’s defense capability.
“These planes are leaving the Polish army at the end of December. They could end up in a museum, be sold or scrapped, or they could end up in Ukraine and help destroy our enemies. In my opinion, the situation seems pretty obvious,” Tomczyk said.
But the final decision on the transfer has not yet been made. This topic, in particular, will be discussed during the visit of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Warsaw, which is scheduled for Friday, December 19.
Transfer of aircraft to UkraineUkraine plans to strengthen its Air Force with hundreds of new aircraft. In particular, we are talking about the medium and long-term perspective, as well as announced volumes of 150 Swedish JAS 39 Gripen E aircraft from Saab, and/or 100 French Rafale aircraft from Dassault.
According to experts, updating the air force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will require many things, namely from training pilots and technicians to building infrastructure along with new hangars.
