Yaroslav Nagy explained how important it is to accept Ukraine into the North Atlantic Alliance even now.
“Putin would never have decided on aggression. Joining NATO and the EU means peace for everyone in this club. In the history of the Alliance, there has not been a single attack on a NATO member by a third country. This is the best way to explain to Ukrainians how important it is to join NATO.” – he explained in an interview with “Ukrinform”.
Nagy emphasized that NATO is the best defense alliance in the history of the world. Also, according to him, if there is a desire to see “stability in the region of Central and Eastern Europe”, then for this the countries of the Western Balkans (Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo) and Ukraine should become members of the European Union and NATO.
“And now I am talking about the national interests of Slovakia. As a former defense minister of Slovakia, a politician, I can say that this is in the national interests of my country,” Nagy said.
Ukraine is the only “neighbor” of Slovakia that is not a member of the North Atlantic Alliance and NATO. As soon as this happens, the security situation in Slovakia will improve.
Other news about Ukraine’s accession to NATOEarlier, UNIAN reported that the Slovak Prime Minister, in turn, declares that as long as he is in this position, he will oppose the admission of Ukraine to NATO. He names one reason – the possibility of the start of the Third World War because of this.
In addition, Angela Merkel said that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine would have allegedly started earlier if she had not blocked Ukraine’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance.
“We would have seen a military conflict even earlier. It was absolutely clear to me that Putin would not stand aside and watch Ukraine join NATO,” she said.
