The resolution contains a fair peace necessary for the safety of the entire continent and can be supported by adequate security guarantees for Ukraine, and any peace talks should only take place with the participation of Ukraine and on the basis of the principle of “peace through force”.
“This principle emphasizes, among other things, that peace talks can only be conducted from the standpoint of stability and powerful defense capability, and that fair and long peace can be provided only by adequate security guarantees for Ukraine,” the text reads.
Among other things, the PACE was called on by the Council of Europe Member States, as well as relevant European institutions and international partners “to strengthen the sanctions regime against the Russian Federation and to expand their scope, including a broader range of sectors of the Russian economy-agricultural, metallurgical and nuclear industries.”
Also at a meeting on January 30, PACE approved the resolution on the situation in Belarus and Georgia.
