This is evidenced by the survey results of the Russian Levada Center.

According to sociologists, 35% of Russians consider the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Kursk region to be the most important event of the year. At the same time, 31% answered that the election of the president of Russia was such an event, the same number spoke “for” the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall in Moscow, a little less (30%) – also “for” the Oreshnik missile strike on the Dnipro (30%) .

“They also mentioned the election of the US president (21%), the rise in interest rates, the rise in prices, housing and communal services tariffs, the dollar exchange rate (21%), drone attacks on the territory of Russia (18%),” the article says.

Other important events for Russians included:

  • the BRICS summit (16%);
  • continuation of SVO (13%);
  • Putin’s speeches (13%);
  • war in Syria (12%);
  • YouTube slowdown (11%);
  • natural disasters, floods, fires, cold weather (10%);
  • strengthening checks on migrants, migration legislation (10%),
  • success in higher education (10%);
  • conflict in the Middle East (10%), anti-corruption scandals in the Ministry of Defense (10%).

In general, Russians rate the past year as “average” – 65% (+24% compared to 2020). Almost equal shares of respondents speak of the past year as “bad” – 18% and “good” – 17%.
