He also emphasized the crucial role of European allies in peace efforts. According to the minister, before the negotiations regarding Ukraine, the American delegation “obviously” agreed its position with Moscow.

Wadeful added that the talks in Berlin were “crucial” for reaching a common position, and whether they will be successful, “we will know only at the end of the week.”

“Vladimir Putin should not be mistaken: we are determined to preserve Ukraine’s defense capability,” the diplomat noted.

Peace talks – the latest newsEarlier, BILD wrote that during the negotiations, Zelensky refused to discuss a unilateral withdrawal from Donbas. According to the journalists, Ukraine is ready for a temporary “freezing” of the front and loss of control over the lands occupied by the Russian Federation, but categorically rejects the demand to withdraw the Armed Forces from the entire Donbas.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) also reported that the Kremlin is threatening to deny European and Ukrainian amendments to the peace plan. Yuriy Ushakov, an adviser to the Russian dictator, said that the Russian Federation “very clearly” expressed its position and that it would have “strong objections” if Ukraine and Europe introduce amendments.

He said that Russia will not accept provisions related to various “territorial issues”, including any discussions about a demilitarized “buffer” zone in Donbas.
