This is evidenced by the results of the study of the IBIF project team (for financing the British Academy), held in November-December 2024 and January 2025, which was published on the website of the Kiev International Institute of Sociology.

In particular, the Ukrainians asked whether they approve of or not approve of Vladimir Zelensky’s actions as a president. The result of the survey showed that its support has increased slightly compared to the previous survey.

It is noted that 63% of Ukrainians replied that they fully or rather approve of their activities as a president. Of these, 36.9% replied that they are more approved, and 26.1% were fully approved.

At the same time, 14.4% of respondents said they did not approve of at all, and 18.3% – rather not approved.

According to sociologists, the “approval” indicator is close to the “trust”, but they are not completely identical (for example, you can approve human activity, but not trust it).

These indicators (both approval and trust) are different from the electoral rating when a person has to choose from the list, who will vote for. In the case of voting, people apply different evaluation criteria and this reflects a different attitude.

“Many now manipulate data and issue approval/trust as electoral ratings, what to do incorrectly. Therefore, we ask you to be careful,” the researchers said.

At the same time, Ukrainians also asked the qualities that President Zelensky possesses.

Yes, the large majority of those surveyed agreed that Zelensky embodies positive features: 74% said he is a patriot of Ukraine, 73% believe that he is a smart and knowledgeable person, 60% consider him honest and worthy of trust, and 65% consider him strong Leader. Estimates that many Western leaders could envy.

In addition, according to sociologists, although Zelensky remains the most popular politician (even if its popularity has declined from the record values of 2022 and 2023), it does not mean that Ukrainians do not want him to cooperate with the opposition more and vice versa.

Yes, 70% of all Ukrainians agree or fully agree that “the president should include more opposition politicians in his office.” But even more Ukrainians believe that the opposition should do more to demonstrate a single front in Ukraine.

82% of all Ukrainians are more likely to agree with the fact that “opposition figures should find a way to work with the President.” Thus, although most Ukrainians approve the president, they want to see more cooperation and firmly place responsibility for the opposition to make more to achieve this goal.

At the same time, researchers say that Zelensky still remains the most popular politician – even more popular generals who are not politicians and are not running now.

Thus, among political leaders, Zelensky leads in polls on the upcoming elections: about 26% -32% of Ukraine’s population reports that they would vote for him in the first round, which is significantly ahead of the next politician and former President Petro Poroshenko, who receives 5-6% ( from the total population of Ukraine, which reports).

Also, if you look only at decisive and probable voters, Zelensky receives 32-41%, and the subsequent candidates for politicians Dmitry Razumkov and Petro Poroshenko are still behind in unambiguous figures.

“Although this, of course, may change – not least if the new candidate participates in the race when he is announced, this result indicates that Zelensky is very likely to be almost among the last two candidates in the second round . Moreover, in the current state of things, it would be a favorite among politicians, ” – noted sociologists.

Researchers point out that a potential contender in the second round may be a popular military general Valery Zaluzhny, a former commander -in -chief, and now the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK, but he has not publicly expressed any political ambitions.

Trump has declared a low level of Zelensky’s support among Ukrainians – what is knownAccording to UNIAN, US President Donald Trump recently declared the need for elections in Ukraine, noting that the support of President Vladimir Zelensky “fell into 4%” among Ukrainians.

In turn, Zelensky replied that it was Russia who spreads misinformation about the low rating of the President of Ukraine because he wants to change it, but now it will not succeed.
