It is about expanding social guarantees for foreigners and even pensions.
Now foreign volunteers will have wider opportunities for service / photo 47 separate mechanized brigade “Magura”Today, foreigners can serve in any combat brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and there are no restrictions regarding the unit. This is emphasized by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
It is noted that the main conditions for accepting a foreigner into military service under a contract are:
- recognition and implementation by a foreigner of the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws of Ukraine;
- stay of a foreigner on legal grounds in the territory of Ukraine;
- the foreigner has no criminal record;
- the foreigner has a valid foreigner’s passport document or a document certifying a stateless person.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes an important limitation: in the conditions of martial law, terminating the contract at one’s own will is possible only after six months of continuous service.
It is known that since 2022, in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the Defense Forces, there have been various formats of involving foreigners in the fight against the aggressor: from the creation of separate military units (such as the International Legions, the Kastus Kalinovsky Regiment, the Legion “Freedom of Russia”, etc.) to effective and efficient units in combat brigades.
It is emphasized that the approach to the use of foreign military personnel is currently evolving, in particular, foreign volunteers will have wider opportunities for service – including the right to choose a combat brigade, direction and specifics of use, in accordance with training and wishes.
“In addition, the possibilities of expanding social guarantees for foreign servicemen, including in the area of state pension provision, are being considered. Currently, the Ministry of Defense is finalizing the development of the Concept of enlistment and completion of military service by foreigners and stateless persons, which should consolidate and improve these new mechanisms,” the message emphasizes.
The Ministry of Defense reported that since the first days of Russia’s full-scale aggression, thousands of volunteers from more than 50 countries have stood side by side with Ukrainian defenders.
The disbandment of foreign legions – what is knownAs UNIAN reported, the International Legions are being liquidated in Ukraine, in fact only the International Legion under the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense will remain.
Oleksandr Yakymovych, commander of the Second International Defense Legion of Ukraine, said that the decision to disband the international legions has already been finally adopted by the country’s top military-political leadership.
According to him, on December 31, the Second Legion will cease to exist, it will be liquidated as a military unit. In fact, it is about disbanding the international legions as part of the Ground Forces.
He emphasized that the three legions that were in the Ground Forces were combat, and the fourth served as a training center. It will continue to be a training center, but will no longer be called a legion.
In his opinion, such a decision is connected with bringing order in the staff structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as with the creation of Assault Troops. Yakymovych said that the legions are being transferred to the Storm Troops, which are currently being formed.
Yakymovych did not rule out that not all foreign volunteers will want to join the attack aircraft.
