“Earlier, Kyiv appealed to the National Academy of Sciences, which owns the botanic garden, to hand it over to the city administration. Since such an area in the historical center of the capital is in a poor condition. And the city wanted to organize it,” he wrote in a telegram.
However, according to him, the National Academy of Sciences refused the offer and later transferred the plot of land on the territory of the Hryshka Botanical Garden to a private developer.
The other day, the State Audit Service reported that during the audit, irregularities were found in the financial activities of the National Botanical Garden named after M.M. Hryshka.
“Contrary to the direct legal prohibition, the plot of land of the National Botanical Garden on St. Sadovo-Botanichnaya (Tymiryazumska street), 1 in Kyiv became the subject of an investment agreement. It provides for the construction of residential and non-residential buildings, in which the Botshad was to receive a share. For 6 years, the developer could not implement the agreement precisely because of the special regime of protection of the territory of the National Botanical Garden. At the same time, during this time, the institution received from the investor cash, services and other goods (in particular, tulip bulbs and soil) worth UAH 2.6 million,” the message says.
It should be noted in the service that the Hryshko botanic garden is part of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine and is an object of complex protection, the legislation prohibits any economic and other activity that contradicts the intended purpose of the reserve.
According to the State Audit Service, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine transferred 116 hectares of state land to private developers in Kyiv. As of the end of 2023, there were 458 land plots in the assets of the National Academy of Sciences.
Neither the National Academy of Sciences nor representatives of the Botshad have yet responded to these statements.
