The Kremlin called it a mistaken opinion of the Ukrainian authorities that Russia can only be “forced to peace.” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmytro Peskov said this at a briefing on September 25, commenting on Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech at the UN.

“The position, which is based on an attempt to force Russia to make peace, is an absolutely fatal mistake. Because it is impossible to force Russia to make peace. “Russia is a supporter of peace, but on condition of guaranteeing the basics of its security and fulfilling the tasks facing the SVO (the Russian official name of the war against Ukraine, “special military operation” – ed.),” Peskov insists.

On September 24, the President of Ukraine stated at a meeting of the UN Security Council that the Russian-Ukrainian war should be ended, not suspended or frozen – and Russia “can only be forced to peace as the only aggressor in the war and the only violator of the UN Charter.”
