Iran Halts Negotiations with US Amid Rising Military Tensions

Iran has officially withdrawn from negotiations with the United States concerning a ceasefire, following an escalation of military pressure and strikes on its territory. The announcement was communicated through Pakistan, indicating that Iran will no longer engage in talks with the US.

The decision to exit the discussions comes as military tensions between Iran, the US, and Israel have intensified. Reports suggest that the parties had been attempting to broker a ceasefire through intermediaries, including Pakistan, but these efforts have proven fruitless.

In recent days, the situation has deteriorated significantly:

  • The US conducted strikes on military targets near Iran’s main oil hub, Kharg Island.
  • Israel has also intensified its attacks.
  • Iran has been pressured to fully open the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump has publicly threatened Iran, stating, “A whole civilization will perish in Iran tonight,” should tensions continue to escalate.

According to sources cited by the New York Times, Iranian officials have indicated that further negotiations have lost their meaning. However, the Iranian publication Tehran Times has refuted claims of a complete halt to negotiations, asserting that diplomatic and indirect channels with the US remain open.

Iran has ceased negotiations with the US regarding a ceasefire, citing increased military pressure and recent strikes. Despite this, some Iranian sources claim that diplomatic channels are still available.
