The Foreign Ministry commented on US threats to get out of negotiations / UNIAN collage, photo Reuters, UNIANThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Ministry) believes that the United States sends signals about a possible refusal of mediation in negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation to accelerate the talk process.
According to UNIAN correspondent, the Foreign Ministry spokesman George Tykhy said during a briefing.
“We have seen public comments and signals, and in particular from the Secretary of State Marco Rubio. We believe that it is part of the communication strategy. That is, by sending such signals, publicly, the American side tries to stimulate the peace process – to accelerate it. We are considering it in this context. The peace process, as of now, we did not receive, ” – clarified the situation quiet.
He said that in the Foreign Ministry, such applications are treated normally as signals that should speed up the process.
As the Foreign Ministry spokesman said, these signals do not dramatize in Ukraine, because they understand that there is a difficult job. Part of the diplomacy is in a closed regime, and the Ukrainian delegation adheres to the fundamental positions and Constitution of Ukraine in this process.
“As of now, we are working on the further contacts of Ukraine and the US at different levels. We expect that these contacts will happen, because now it is important to support this dialogue, the exchange of positions and thoughts, diplomatically, at the closed door, not through the media,” the Media said.
He added that public comment is not always in favor of the process.
“There is now a difficult, detailed, difficult, tense diplomatic work, and most of this work is happening outside the lenses of the cameras. And this is normal when it comes to complex diplomatic tasks. But I urge all Ukrainian citizens to believe in Ukrainian diplomacy, in our ability to make miracles, even when it seems that there is no decision.”
At the same time, the spokesman responded to US President Donald Trump’s statements about war.
“He wants this war to stop. And President Zelensky emphasized many times that he respects President Trump’s willingness and determination, his efforts to end this war. So, we believe that he is very genuine in his desire to stop this war,” he said.
The spokesman added that the Ukrainian side works very constructively with Americans and Europeans to end the war and achieve peace. Ukraine is not an obstacle to peace, and it proved that when on March 11 it agreed to proposal for an unconditional and complete ceasefire. At the same time, Russia did not respond to this proposal.
USA and negotiations in UkraineOn April 23, US Vice President Jay Diane said that the United States had prepared “fair” proposals for the end of the war for Russia and Ukraine, but are ready to get out of the negotiation process – to refuse to mediate between Russia and Ukraine, if they do not receive a positive response to the “peaceful” proposal of President Donald Trump.
