This is stated in the message of the Hungarian government. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has already responded to the incident.
It is noted that in the evening on May 9, in the center of Budapest, employees of the anti -terrorist center detained a citizen of Ukraine. The National Police Department for Foreigners forbade him to enter and reside in Hungary “through spying”.
“After finding out the situation, the authorities deported a middle -aged man from Hungary, given that his activities were largely threatened by our country’s sovereignty,” the message reads.
The Hungarian government added that the detained man had previously performed his work “under diplomatic cover”, but now his official status was terminated.
According to Telex, the detained for many years worked at the Embassy of Ukraine in Budapest.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry George Tykhy responded to the detention of a man, call the incident “hunting on witches”.
“On the detention of a citizen of Ukraine at the Budapest Center. When the evidence is over, hunting for witches begins. It is time for the Hungarian authorities to put an end to the meaningless anti -Ukrainian hysteria,” he wrote on the social network Kh.
Exacerbation of relations between Ukraine and HungaryAs UNIAN wrote earlier, on the eve, on May 9, the SBU reported the exposing of a spy network of military intelligence of Hungary, which operated to our country. The task of this cell was to collect information on military protection of the Transcarpathian region, the search for vulnerable places in the land and air defense of the region, as well as the study of socio-political views of the locals: in particular, the scenarios of their behavior, if Hungarian troops enter the territory of the region. According to the results of complex measures in Transcarpathia, the SBU detained two agents from the network of the Hungarian special service.
In response, Hungary sent two Ukrainian diplomats accused of espionage. Foreign Minister Peter Siarto said that they worked under diplomatic cover at the Embassy of Ukraine in Budapest. He also said that in Ukraine since the beginning of a full -scale invasion, the anti -Hungarian propaganda has become increasingly stronger and that the reason for the “defamatory campaign against the Hungarians” is that Hungary does not want to provide weapons to Ukraine.
After that, Ukraine sent two Hungarian diplomats in response to Budapest. “We are acting in response to the actions of Hungary, based on the principle of reciprocity and our national interests,” said the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga.
