The protesters urged the Slovak Prime Minister to resign.
According to some estimates, about 100,000 people came out in the country in total, and only 60 thousand in the capital of Bratislava. Protests also took place in Slovak cities such as Trnava, Bansk Bystrica, Trenchin, Presashi, Skalitz and more.
People held Slovak flags and slogans with slogans like “Slovakia should be disinfected”, “Slovakia belongs to Europe”, “Fitzo – to Russia!”.
One of the gatherings was made by the historian and former presidential candidate Patrick Dubovsky, who told about his visits to Ukraine and Georgia. According to him, people in these countries want to live there in the free world, not under the rule of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
According to the newspaper, in Trenchyn many protesters came with Ukrainian flags.
“The prime minister of this country managed to cross all the red lines – he flew to Moscow and shook his hand to a war criminal. We can no longer go out on the square,” – said one of the protest organizers, ethnologist Alexander Bitushikov.
It is noted that there were reports of possible riots, and therefore people with children asked to take them from the crowd.
“There were reports that there would be riots, but we said that they were so angry that they had to express their disapproval. It went too far,” one of the participants said.
