According to BR24, the Government’s deputy spokesman Christian Hoffmann has been in defense of European sanctions, calling them justified, intelligent and effective. The German Foreign Ministry divides this opinion:
“The cessation of this war, which caused the imposition of sanctions in the hands of Russia.”
These statements were made after the words of the Federal Land Prime Minister Saxony and a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Michael Krechmer, who criticized Germany’s categorical refusal to mitigate sanctions against Russia. According to him, sanctions are “outdated” and “do not correspond” to the latest actions of the United States of America.
Sanctions against RussiaIt is known that Moscow actively demands the removal or weakening of international sanctions imposed against it in response to invasion of Ukraine.
During the recent negotiations on ceasefire in the Black Sea, the Russian side nominated the abolition of some sanctions, including those introduced by the European Union.
The European Commission representative stated that the main prerequisite for the revision or abolition of EU sanctions against Russia is the complete and unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.
