In the Finland capital, the Coalition Party was leading the elections, while the Social Democratic Party of Finland, which was in the opposition and did not participate in the formation of the government, won the elections throughout the country, both in the regional and municipal elections.
Sazonov is Russian origin, his family moved to Finland in the 1990s, though he was already born in Helsinki. He received Finnish citizenship at the age of 9.
According to Yle.fi, by the spring of 2022 he was a columnist for anti -Ukrainian propaganda “Finnish newspaper”, focused on a Russian -speaking audience in Finland. It is noted that he stopped writing for this edition a few months after the start of a full -scale Russian invasion.
He later stated that he strongly condemns Russian aggression and supports sanctions against the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
“I do not want to have anything to do with the pro -Russian forces. I stopped writing for the newspaper when I stopped being sure that it unambiguously condemns the illegal aggressive war of Russia. Since then, I have no contact with the newspaper,” Sazonova quotes.
Finland’s policy on UkraineAs UNIAN reported earlier, Finland President Alexander Stubb stated in early March that Ukraine should automatically become a NATO member if Russia is attacking Ukrainians again after reaching peace. According to him, it would be a strong enough security guarantee for Ukraine. Stubb added that this was offered by American senator Lindsey Graham. In addition, he urged the use of funds that were confiscated in the Russian Federation.
Stubb criticized discussions about peacekeepers in Ukraine. According to him, it is not time to discuss now. He stressed that even if Europe has been sending to Ukraine from 20 to 60 thousand soldiers, it will not play a decisive role. “There are many other ways to continue Ukraine’s support. Land troops are not on our agenda now,” Stubb said. In his opinion, this discussion can only be returned after fighting stops in the territory of Ukraine.
Also, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen stated that it was not time for European leaders to call Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. She stressed that the negotiations should be postponed as Russia continues its aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, Valtonen noted that Finland did not consider the Russian Federation an enemy, but opposes its actions and violations of international law.
