Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykola Trofimenko told reporters, education.ua writes.
He reported that 379 higher education institutions were recruited during this year’s introductory campaign during this year’s introductory campaign. And only 48 of them were recruited by more than a thousand freshmen.

He said that the bulk of state universities overcame the threshold of a thousand students, and the vast majority of universities with a low number of entrants are private institutions. According to Trofimenko, after such results of the introductory campaign, a discussion on the number of universities and the quality of education in Ukraine should begin.
“For private universities, this will happen naturally, because when there are no students, they will go bankrupt,” the Deputy Minister added.
Other higher education institutions will check the quality of education, and they will also need to confirm licensing.
Higher education in UkraineAccording to UNIAN, the higher education system in Ukraine is in crisis. The relative demand is except that the computer sciences, and for technical specialties (with some exceptions) there are fewer entrants every year. In general, the number of entrants has decreased throughout Ukraine, except for the western regions.
The reasons for this state of education are the deterioration of the demographic situation and the mass departure of senior students from Ukraine through the war.
