According to him, at the end of March everything was ready to sign an agreement with Ukraine on natural fossils. However, the President of Ukraine, having joined the White House, “thwarted the signing”.

According to the US Finance Minister, the President of Ukraine was going to sign the treaty three times, but he did not. He claims that Ukrainians allegedly “pleaded” about a visit to the White House. The Bessent added:
“It was necessary to force them to sign an agreement before the visit to the White House … Zelensky had to just appear, lunch with us. If he wanted to discuss something, there were 9 Americans. We could still discuss then in place.”
The minister stated that everything was “ready” to sign the agreement. However, the Bessent is convinced that the mineral agreement is beneficial to both countries and hopes that it will be signed in the near future.
