He said this during a speech at the Support Ukraine Summit, which takes place in Kiev with the participation of a number of foreign leaders.
He stressed that the Germans did not forget what happened 3 years ago when a large -scale war in Ukraine began.
“No one with open eyes and open heart can deny the truth – it was Russia who started this war. It was Russia who sent tanks to Ukraine 3 years ago. It is Russia who wants to destroy Ukraine and threatens free democratic Europe,” Steinmeier said.
The Federal President of Germany noted that in the last few weeks, Russia may have been given some opportunity to “transmit” something in the White House, but it did not receive legitimacy and nothing of what they did unlawful has become appropriate to the law.
