He is in Washington at the invitation of Marco Rubio.

According to the Ministry’s statement, this trip takes place in difficult geopolitical times – Ukraine makes peaceful proposals and is trying to start negotiations to end the war, but the Kremlin ruler Putin responds to these concessions with massive shelling.
The department notes that Washington is trying to end the war in the center of Europe with the help of “intensive peace diplomacy”. During his visit to the states, Vadeful plans to develop these efforts:
“We want to finally put an end to the death of people in Ukraine, we want to stop the ceasefire and strong peace. In order for Putin to finally sit at the negotiating table so that Russia will finally come into serious negotiations, we must continue pressure. We, Europeans, continue to strengthen the sanctions.
Sanctions against RussiaEarlier, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Poland have agreed to impose new sanctions against Russia if the Kremlin abandons the unconditional 30-day ceasefire.
The Kremlin ruler Putin rejected the truce, instead proposing to hold direct negotiations in Istanbul. This initiative was seen as an attempt to avoid economic restrictions, demonstrating “readiness” for negotiations.
According to Western media, the US President Donald Trump’s reaction was disappointed in Europe. Instead of punishing Moscow for refusing peaceful initiatives, he continued to say that he believed in Putin’s desire for peace.
Despite this, Western partners continue to consider the possibility of imposing new sanctions against Russia.
Senator Lindsey Graham, together with his colleagues, developed the Sancing Russia Act of 2025, which provides for the introduction of 500% of tariffs for imports of goods from countries buying Russian energy, as well as restrictions on financial transactions with Russian state -owned companies. This bill has received widespread support in the US Senate.
