The path of Ukraine to membership in the organization of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO) is irreversible. According to a UNIAN correspondent, Germany Minister Johann Vadeful said this in Kiev at the beginning of a meeting with President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
“Indeed, at the NATO summit during a meeting of foreign ministers, I stressed that Ukraine is on a non -repayable journey to NATO, and Germany confirms this decision,” Vadeful said.
Also, he said, this concerns Ukraine’s aspirations to approach the European Union.
“Hope that during the presidency of Denmark [у другому півріччі 2025 року] The first negotiating cluster may be opened [про вступ до ЄС]”, – said the minister.
He added that Germany is optimistic.

In his turn, Zelensky thanked the minister for the signal, “who has long ago, or maybe never, has never been heard from the German side.”
“During the NATO Summit, during a meeting at the NATO foreign ministers and the Minister of Ukraine, the German side said that Ukraine should be in the Alliance, and this is in the interests of all of Europe. We are very pleased with the appropriate support signals,” Zelensky said.
The path of Ukraine to NATOAccording to UNIAN, the NATO summit in the Hague shows that Russia is a “long -term threat” to the Alliance. However, it does not mention the future membership of Ukraine in the block.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Ukraine’s path remains “irreversible” before entering the Alliance.
We will remind that Ukraine has applied for joining NATO under the accelerated procedure at the end of September 2022.
