In January 2025, resettled people will be able to receive a subsidy for housing rent, announced Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

According to him, as part of the “Winter Support” initiative, the government is introducing a subsidy for housing rent for internally displaced persons. This program will start in January 2025.

“We understand the difficulties faced by people who left their homes. Forced migrants who spend more than 20% of their income on housing rent will be able to apply for a subsidy, and the state will partially compensate them for these expenses,” Shmyhal said.

According to the official, the government will also compensate landlords for part of their income taxes on the condition that an apartment or house is rented out to internally displaced persons officially under a contract.

“The housing rental subsidy for IDPs will now be valid in all regions. The relevant changes were approved today,” the prime minister added.

Earlier, the Ministry of Social Policy assured that the amount of the subsidy will increase due to the increase in the electricity tariff.
