In particular, the head of the Danish Foreign Ministry said that he opposes human trafficking, that is, the sale of the island to America.

“Forget it, we’re living in 2026. You can trade between people, but you can’t trade people, and that rule still stands, so forget that way,” Rasmussen said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark emphasized that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries cannot be violated.

“There are certain special rules of the game in the world that cannot be violated. And one of the main rules is, after all, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries,” the politician said.

The BBC also reported that Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said that Europe must show President Trump that threats of tariffs “are not a way out of the situation”.

“We have red lines that cannot be crossed. You cannot threaten ownership of Greenland. I have no intention of escalating the situation,” he shared in an interview with Sky News.

Denmark’s position on Trump’s Greenland planEarlier, UNIAN reported that Denmark sent military reinforcements to Greenland. One of the Danish Air Force planes landed at Nuuk Airport with military specialists on January 19. According to reports, the military units aim to prepare the island to receive larger forces of the Danish army and the armies of the country’s allies. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen explained the increased military presence on the island as “a clear response to the challenge facing the Arctic”.

We also wrote that US President Donald Trump noted that it is time to eliminate the Russian threat on the territory of Greenland and added that Denmark has not been able to do this for 20 years.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, said after the meeting in the White House that Denmark failed to change the position of the US regarding Greenland. Rasmussen acknowledged that his country and the United States have different positions on this issue. He added that during the meeting the parties agreed to continue negotiations and form a high-level working group.
