The ministry called to refrain from such rhetoric, accusing the Slovak premiere of lightness.

In particular, Fitzo said that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will agree – Ukraine will be most affected.
“Remember the old African truth that I love to repeat? No matter if elephants are fighting or having sex, always suffers from the grass. No matter what the negotiations of elephants will end on August 15, the grass will hurt – in this case, Ukraine,” he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned this rhetoric, noting that Fitzo never realized the true causes of the invasion of the Russian Federation, as well as the danger that a flirting with the aggressor state.
“It is unfortunate that the head of the government of the European Union Member State allows itself a frankly abusive rhetoric to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, which daily fights Russian aggression daily, holding it on its land in the interests of the security of the whole of Europe,” the statement reads.
The Foreign Ministry also noted that Fitzo’s statements are dissociated with the spirit of good neighborhood, solidarity and mutual respect, which throughout this time demonstrates the Slovak people in relation to Ukraine.
“We warn against the use of unfriendly folklore allegories and attempts to raise the political ratings of our party through similar statements. It is a lightness that offends the memory of the dead, the suffering of millions of Ukrainian families and the sacrifice of those who fight for freedom,” the Foreign Ministry added.
Slovak’s rhetoric about UkraineRecently, the Government of Slovakia has stated that it would not support a new package of EU sanctions against Russia until it was returned to buy Russian gas freely.
Robert Fitzo also threatened to withdraw Slovakia from NATO if he was required to increase defense costs up to 5% of GDP. This is achieved by US President Donald Trump.
Subsequently, Fitzo stated that Slovakia considers Ukraine’s membership in the EU, but the direct dialogue between the leaders of the countries “makes no sense” because of personal dislike between them.
