This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko in his telegram channel.

“I want to emphasize that, despite the fact that public transport in Kiev is subsidized, the city is now looking for opportunities not to raise fare. Although in many big cities it has already done. The difference in the existing tariff and economically justified – 11 billion a year. It is the funds from the budget of Kiev. The Department of Finance will not be enough.

He also noted that the central government should compensate for Kyiv’s costs for free transportation of privileges, but it does not.

“And, I will add, the transportation of privileges for free is another billion from the city budget. These funds are not compensated by the state, although it should,” the mayor said.

Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized that Kiev will do everything to support people in a difficult social situation and maintain existing tariffs at least until the end of the war.

“Currently, we are doing everything to support people in a difficult social situation. The central government has done everything to take away the opportunity to keep a fare for public transport. And now we are looking for opportunities to remedy the created situation and keep the existing tariffs. Because, as I said before,”

We will remind, earlier the expert on infrastructure issues Anna Minyukova reported that at the nearest session of the Kyiv City Council will consider the increase in the cost of travel in communal transport because the central government is about to take 8 billion UAH from the budget of the capital.
