In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia called such accusations of the Ukrainian president “nonsense” and urged Ukraine “not to look for new enemies.”

“We reject any nonsense about the opening of the second energy front, about which the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi baselessly fantasizes, as well as about some imaginary alliance with Volodymyr Putin,” the statement reads.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia emphasized that since the beginning of the war, the country has provided and “will continue to provide humanitarian aid to defenseless, needy residents of Ukraine to the extent of its capabilities.”

“Also, our partner, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, should not lose sight of the fact that Russian gas, which is distributed through their territory, brings significant income to Ukraine, which is in great need of it,” the statement reads.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia stated that Ukraine is not in the conditions to look for new enemies:

“We fully understand that they are in a protracted military conflict, but that is why they should not create new enemies and fantasize about the emergence of some second front.”

It is noted that the Slovak government “must first of all protect the strategic interests of our country and our citizens, as well as the interests of the EU, regardless of whether the Ukrainian side likes it or not.”

“Energy” conflict between Ukraine and SlovakiaEarlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Russian dictator Volodymyr Putin instructed Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to open a “second energy front against Ukraine” at the expense of the interests of the people of this country. According to the head of our country, supporting Russian aggression is absolutely immoral.

Due to Ukraine’s refusal to transit Russian gas, Fico threatened to stop the supply of electricity to our country after January 1, 2025. In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the European Commission to respond to Fico’s threats to stop the supply of electricity.
