The educational ombudsman suggests to choose an extension of the vacation, and to complete the lessons later.

Distance learning or long vacations: the Ministry of Education made a statement about changes in the educational processEducational institutions of Ukraine will extend the vacation or switch to remote / photo facebook.com/oda.odesaAgainst the background of the deterioration of the situation in the energy system of Ukraine, educational institutions must either switch to distance education or extend the holidays until February 1, 2026. Such a statement was made to the Ministry of Education.

“Due to the consequences of the emergency situation, the government has decided to temporarily suspend the educational process in face-to-face form in preschool, general secondary, professional, professional pre-higher and higher education institutions, depending on the security situation in the region,” the message reads.

It is noted that the KMDA should implement the extension or establishment of the winter vacation until February 1, 2026. Preschool education institutions in the capital will decide on the continuation of work taking into account the situation on the ground.

Meanwhile, education ombudsman Nadiya Leshchyk says that in the event of an emergency situation in Ukraine’s energy sector, the best option is to introduce holidays until the end of January in communities where the situation will be critical, and to organize pre-school camps for children in individual schools.

“You can make up for classes by canceling spring vacation or continuing your studies in June 2026,” she wrote on Facebook.

At the same time, she does not support the idea of introducing distance learning. According to Leshchyk, it is impossible to ensure access to education for all students in conditions of unstable electricity supply and communication. Teachers will also have difficulties with the organization of lessons.

“Forcing teachers to sit in cold schools does not ensure high-quality education. Such education is not effective and already leads to educational losses. Teachers involved in shifts at “Points of Invincibility” or shelters cannot fully prepare and conduct online classes,” added the Ombudswoman.

The situation in the energy sector of UkraineDue to Russian shelling, Ukraine is currently experiencing the hardest winter in 20 years. Against the background of the worsening situation in the energy sector, the government made a number of important decisions.

In particular, the curfew is allowed to be relaxed in the territories that are in the energy emergency zone. In addition, the Government plans to assign residential buildings with electric heating to the objects of critical infrastructure in order to ensure constant heating.

The enemy continues to strike the energy infrastructure. In Kharkiv, hundreds of thousands of people were left without electricity and heat due to the Russian attack.
