CNN: The US plans to transfer thousands of missiles and hundreds of thousands of projectiles to Ukraine by the end of Biden’s term

The administration of US President Joe Biden is working on increasing the supply of weapons to Ukraine in order to have time to transfer them during the last five weeks of his mandate, CNN reports with reference to a high-ranking representative of the White House.

According to him, the administration is investing resources to deliver previously promised weapons by January 20, when Biden will hand over power to President-elect Donald Trump.

“The Ministry of Defense is making historic efforts to transfer huge shipments of weapons to Ukraine over the next five weeks. From today until the middle of January, we will deliver to Ukraine hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of rockets, hundreds of armored vehicles and other critically important equipment,” said the interlocutor of the TV channel.

On December 12, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the White House is allocating another $500 million package of “urgently needed weapons and equipment” to Ukraine. It included ammunition for HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems, ammunition for repelling drone attacks, and artillery shells of 105 and 155 mm caliber.

Since the beginning of December 2024, this is already the third aid package to Kyiv from the Joe Biden administration. On December 3, the United States allocated $725 million in aid to Ukraine, and on December 7, another $988 million.

Donald Trump’s inauguration will take place on January 20, 2025. Earlier, it was reported that representatives of the Biden administration fear that under the Trump administration, the supply of weapons to Ukraine will be significantly reduced or stopped, in order to push Kyiv into negotiations.
