“Civilizational erasure is threatened”: Trump sharply criticized Europe for its policy

This rhetoric is likely to resonate deeply with most far-right parties in Europe, whose election programs are primarily based on criticism of the EU.

https://www.unian.ua/ photo ua.depositphotos.comThe Trump administration recognizes that “Europe remains strategically and culturally important for the United States” / photo ua.depositphotos.comUS President Donald Trump and his administration have blamed the EU and migration for what they call an imminent, total cultural collapse in Europe. Politico writes about it.

Significantly, this statement is contained in the National Security Strategy of the US, which emphasizes the existence of economic problems in Europe, but says that they are “overshadowed by the real and more severe prospect of the destruction of civilization” in the next 20 years.

“The larger challenges facing Europe include actions by the European Union and other transnational organizations that undermine political freedom and sovereignty, migration policies that are transforming the continent and creating discord, censorship of free speech and suppression of political opposition, a sharp decline in the birth rate, and a loss of national identity and self-confidence,” the 33-page document published by the administration said. Trump

According to the publication, this rhetoric is likely to find a deep response in the majority of far-right parties in Europe, whose election programs are primarily based on criticism of the EU, demands to limit migration from Muslim and non-European countries, as well as a patriotic desire to reverse the supposed decline of their countries.

The new security strategy shows a clear ideological closeness between US President Donald Trump’s populist MAGA movement and European nationalist parties.

The US administration, which is developing increasingly close ties to far-right parties in countries such as Germany and Spain, appears to be hinting that it may help ideologically close European parties. The strategy states:

“America is calling on its political allies in Europe to contribute to this revival, and the growing influence of patriotic European parties is indeed a source of great optimism.”

Why is the document important? It is noted that this document represents a rare official explanation of Trump’s foreign policy outlook by his administration. Such strategies, which presidents typically release once a term, can help determine how the various branches of the US government allocate budgets and set policy priorities.

In an introductory note to the strategy, Trump called it “a road map that will ensure America maintains its status as the largest and most successful country in human history and the bastion of freedom on earth.”

The Trump administration acknowledges that “Europe remains strategically and culturally important to the United States,” but its views on the continent are consistent with the administration’s previous negative public statements.

Importantly, the document also resonates with the racist “great displacement” conspiracy theory, which claims that elites are plotting to disenfranchise white Europeans by opening their countries’ doors to immigration from the African continent, particularly from Muslim countries. It says:

“In the long term, it is more than likely that some NATO members will become the majority of the non-European population within a few decades at the latest.”

The chief representative of the European Commission, Paula Pinho, told reporters that she was aware of the “publication of this report” but had not had “time to study it”, adding that the EU’s executive committee would “definitely” announce its position in due course.

The war in Ukraine is mentioned as a short digression from the discussion of the “civilizational destruction” of Europe. The US emphasizes that ending the Kremlin’s war is in America’s interests, in particular to restore “strategic stability” with Russia.

Significantly, the US administration claims that “unstable minority governments” in Europe have “unrealistic expectations of war”, implying that they are impeding the peace process.

Contrary to NATO’s open-door policy for candidate countries, the US administration also wants to make it a priority to “stop the perception and prevent the reality of NATO as an ever-expanding alliance.”

Warning of EU leaders about the USFrench President Emmanuel Macron fears that the United States may betray Ukraine during peace talks with the Russian Federation. In particular, in the matter of the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia. Also, the USA may not provide clarity regarding the post-war security guarantees of Ukraine.

According to Spiegel, it is clear that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Macron have a deep distrust of the US when it comes to peace talks with Ukraine and Russia.
