Karney said that he gave the Ukrainian leader an invitation to the summit when he talked to him recently after joining the post.
“President Zelensky was invited to a G7 meeting in Alberta in June,” a spokesman for Canada’s government confirmed.
It is known that the Great Seven Summit (G7) will take place on June 15-17, 2025 in the Canadian province of Alberta.
The position of the new Prime Minister of Canada on UkraineAs reported earlier, UNIAN, the newly elected Prime Minister of Canada Karney in conversation with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky assured him of adamant support of Ukraine. He stated that Canada supports the proposal to stop the fire in Ukraine. He emphasized that the country will provide Ukraine with military support necessary for self -defense – now and in the future.
On March 17, Karney, who visited France, made a statement on peace in Ukraine with President Emmanuel Macron. They, in particular, assured that “Canada and France are the states of peace” and “they will continue to demand clear obligations from Russia.” Canada Prime Minister and French President also expressed their willingness to work together to continue to support Ukraine and security in Europe.
