In his speech, Lula, who was the first of the world leaders, said that war in Ukraine could not have a military solution.
“A recent meeting in Alaska has given hope for the negotiation path to solving the problem, this is necessary in order to pave the way to a realistic solution,” he said.
However, he hinted that the aggressor’s requirements should be met. According to him, finding a solution “involves taking into account the legal security problems of all countries.”
In the second part of the speech, he spoke about the gas situation, Lula stated that “terrorist attacks committed by Hamas cannot be justified from any point of view, but nothing justifies the ongoing genocide.”
“Tens of thousands of innocent women and children are buried under the tons of blockages. We see that international humanitarian law … also buried there,” he said.
He also criticized US restrictions that were introduced against Brazil, without mentioning Donald Trump personally. Local media noted that Lula and Trump will not have a personal meeting in the summit fields. He also spoke on the topic of the future of the 21st century.
“We need leaders with a clear vision who understand that international order is not a zero -sum game. The 21st century will be increasingly multipolar. To be peaceful, it cannot but be multilateral,” he said, having received applause of the hall for these words.
