This was stated by a member of the House of Representatives from the Republican Party, Marjorie Taylor Green, in an interview with CBS, The Guardian quotes.

“I watched a lot of my colleagues go from making fun of him, making fun of the way he talks, making fun of me all the time for supporting him, to when he won the primary in 2024, they all started — excuse my pun, Leslie (60 Minutes correspondent Leslie Stahl) — kissing his ass,” she noted.

Referring to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan, Green said Republicans then “decided to put on the Maga cap for the first time.”

She added that Republicans do not criticize Trump publicly because they are afraid of becoming his target.

“I think they are afraid to go beyond what is allowed and get an unpleasant post about themselves in Truth Social,” the politician explained.

What is known about Marjorie Taylor GreenThe Guardian recalled that the politician was once a loyal ally of Trump, but in January she left Congress due to disagreements with the US president. In particular, the American leader called her a “traitor” and attacked her online, due to which, according to Green, she began to be threatened.

“In postings on X on Sunday, Green said she had reported hundreds of threats to the US Capitol Police. She added that the threats initially came from those who opposed Trump on the US political left. But then, she said, the threats were directed at her and her son when she spoke out against Trump over his handling of documents related to the prosecution of former presidential friend Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sexual assault crimes and a disgraced financier,” the article explained.

Epstein is known to have been convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution and died by suicide while in prison on federal sex trafficking charges in 2019, during Trump’s first presidency.

“All the death threats came from the ‘left’ until I sided with Epstein’s victims, women who were raped, abused and sold as teenagers by rich and powerful men. Then President Trump turned on me, called me a ‘traitor’ and then more death threats and persecution started coming from the ‘right’ or elsewhere. I sent these death threats to my son President Trump, to which he responded with harsh accusations and zero sympathy,” Green said.

At the same time, Trump called her “crazy” and warned that without his support she would lose the next election in her district.

“The frivolous Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green betrayed the entire Republican Party when she moved to the left wing,” he said.
