Arahamia: Boyko’s expulsion from the human rights committee will be put to a second vote

The Verkhovna Rada will return to the issue of the expulsion of People’s Deputy Yury Boyko from the parliamentary committee on human rights, the head of the “Servant of the People” faction, David Arahamia, announced on December 18.

He commented on the vote today, noting that nine votes were not enough for a positive decision.

“By a strange coincidence, those who shouted the loudest about ‘treason’ didn’t vote,” Arahamiya said.

He announced the voting results, noting that some people’s deputies were absent, although they were at the meeting before that.

“Now Yuri Boyko knows who he should be grateful to for the failure of the vote. And we will definitely return to this issue and solve it finally. We will hold another meeting of the committee and put it to a vote again,” Arahamiya added.

On December 18, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine failed to recall People’s Deputy Yury Boyk from the position of a member of the Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.

The other day, People’s Deputy Yuriy Boyko, the former co-chairman of the “Opposition Platform – For Life” party, which was banned in 2022, posted a video on TikTok in which he accused unnamed “radicals” of forbidding people in Ukraine to speak their native language, go to church, which they want, demolish monuments and rename cities.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, responding to the statement of the chairman of the Platform for Life and Peace parliamentary group, said that it is impossible to talk about violence and not mention Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Boyko, in a comment to Radio Svoboda, answering a question about whether his activity on TikTok is “preparation for the elections”, said that posting videos on the platform “has become no more than one of the directions of the communication strategy.” He also stated in a written response received on December 17 that “this has nothing to do with Russia and its narratives.”

Also, on December 17, Boyko recorded a new address in which he asked for forgiveness from those “Ukrainians who are fighting at the front or working in the rear for victory” who were offended by his words.
