AI and the TCC problem: Fedorov talked about his plans as the Minister of DefenseFedorov talked about his plans / UNIANToday, it is not possible to fight with new technologies against the old organizational structure, so complex changes are necessary. As the correspondent of UNIAN reports, the newly appointed Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov said this before voting for his appointment.

“I am taking office not as a minister who built a digital state, created Diya, but as a person whose team has spent a lot of time working on war since 2022,” he noted.

However, Fedorov noted, nowadays it is not possible to fight with new technologies against the old organizational structure, so comprehensive changes are necessary.

“Our goal is to change the system: to carry out army reform, improve front-line infrastructure, eradicate lies and corruption, make leadership and trust a new culture. So that people who give real results receive rewards and the opportunity to grow further,” he emphasized.

Fedorov also noted that we should start working in the information and cognitive domain and counteract Russian propaganda, in particular, on the enemy’s territory.

Artificial intelligenceFedorov noted that Ukraine is moving towards full autonomy on the battlefield – from machine vision and data analytics to swarms of drones:

“Our ambitious goal is to make Ukraine the first country in the world that will be able to predict and neutralize enemy attacks with the help of artificial intelligence. And much more, which we cannot talk about publicly today.”

TCCFedorov also emphasized that it is necessary to change the system of training Ukrainian military personnel.

“Quality training means reducing losses and increasing efficiency. The problem of TCC cannot be ignored. After a comprehensive audit, we will offer a systemic solution to solve problems accumulated over the years and at the same time preserve the country’s defense capability,” he said.

International aid and military industryAmong other things, Fedorov noted that the goal of this year is to increase the volume of international military aid. “The integration of partners, in particular, their scientific and research capabilities, will make our defense system stronger while strengthening their defense capabilities,” he said.

The ministerial candidate also emphasized that the development of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex will be brought to a new level: defense tech will become a key industry of Ukraine on world markets and a driver of the country’s economic growth.

“We still need to do our homework to create Ukrainian air defense and our laser-guided artillery. This will enable the artillery to work more accurately, faster and more effectively, reducing the risks to our military.”

In addition, he stated that an in-depth audit of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be conducted in the near future in order to find additional opportunities to improve the financial and social level of support for servicemen.
