The State Security Service of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia claims that the detainee cooperated with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the SGB, David Kerch Adrian allegedly went to Abkhazia on a tourist visa, and on the instructions of the GUR “was supposed to shoot military facilities and bases in the republic with the help of a drone.”

It is claimed that the Romanian citizen was promised to be taken safely out of Abkhazia, as he could be in danger in the territory occupied by Russia.
Regarding the Romanian citizen, “further operative measures are being taken.” The SGB has not yet announced the initiation of a criminal case.
The Ukrainian GUR did not comment on this statement by the Abkhaz security service.
Previously, Georgian citizens were repeatedly detained in Abkhazia on charges of espionage, including Kristine Takalandze, who was sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison. In May of this year, the Abkhaz Security Service reported the detention of Kakha Muradov, “suspected of high treason in favor of Georgia.”
