Every year, Ukraine will receive at least 3.6 billion dollars in military aid from Great Britain – this is established by the agreement on a century-long partnership between the countries, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a briefing in Kyiv with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, a Radio Liberty correspondent reports.

According to Zelenskyi, they also agreed on the receipt of $3 billion from Russian assets.

“We have agreed on at least $3.6 billion in annual military aid to Ukraine for as long as it will be needed. Plus, they prepared a decision on another 3 billion dollars from Russian assets. And in general, for this year alone, we should withdraw 6.6 billion dollars from Britain,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

On January 16, Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed an agreement on a century-long partnership between the countries.

The office of the President of Ukraine made public the agreement signed with Britain. The document consists of 14 articles, which, among other things, relate to strengthening defense capabilities, security and reaching a consensus on Ukraine’s membership in NATO, strengthening cooperation in the field of energy, in the field of justice and prosecution and countering foreign information manipulation and interference, using the potential of socio-cultural relations ties, as well as cooperation on migration issues.

Ukraine held the first round of negotiations with Great Britain on the conclusion of a bilateral agreement on a 100-year partnership in August 2024.

Kir Starmer arrived in Kyiv on the morning of January 16 for a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The visit comes amid reports in the British press that Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron have begun discussing the possibility of sending British and French soldiers to Ukraine as peacekeepers if an agreement is reached to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
