During his visit to the USA, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, met with the governor of the state of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, as well as the senator from this state, Bob Casey, and the congressman, Matt Cartwright.
During the meeting, the prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and the United States of America at the regional level were discussed.
“I thank the heads of American states for their willingness to develop regional cooperation with Ukraine. The implementation of joint economic projects will help restore destroyed infrastructure and create jobs,” the Head of State said.
In the presence of Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the head of Zaporizhzhya OVA Ivan Fedorov and Josh Shapiro signed an agreement on cooperation between Zaporizhia OVA and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Interaction between state bodies, scientific institutions, civil society organizations and business is envisaged. Among the main directions are energy, agriculture, digital technologies and defense. The agreement will also contribute to the reconstruction of the Zaporizhzhia region.
More than 150,000 Ukrainians and Americans of Ukrainian origin live in the state of Pennsylvania.
“Also, the production of weapons and military equipment is located here. For Ukraine, this direction is an absolute priority. We will be grateful for strengthening cooperation in this area,” the President emphasized.
Five agreements have already been concluded between Ukrainian regions and American states. Previously, such documents were signed between Kyiv region and the state of Washington, between Kyiv region and the state of Utah, between Zhytomyr region and the state of Indiana, between Chernihiv region and the state of Minnesota.
