Volodymyr Zelensky met with Slovak parliamentarians

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, met with the delegation of the Progressive Slovakia party led by Myhal Shimechka.

The head of state emphasized that Ukrainians are grateful to Slovaks for their support and help in the fight against Russian aggression.

“We are very grateful to the entire Slovak people for everything you have done for our people, for your attitude towards Ukrainians. Thank you for supporting our sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President emphasized that Ukraine is open to a serious dialogue with Slovakia, in particular regarding energy security and finding practical solutions for energy supply routes.

“We are ready to help the Slovak people in the matter of energy stability and security. It is very important for us to hear a signal from the Slovak people that you will also support Ukrainians on our way to the EU and NATO. This is a key issue for us because of the war, because of security guarantees, which are very important for us,” the Head of State said.

In the war started by Russia, Ukrainians are fighting for the future not only of their country, but also of the whole of Europe. And now it is important to continue the pressure on the aggressor state in all possible ways to force it to establish a just and lasting peace.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to supporting Ukraine on the way to the EU and NATO, as well as to the issue of security guarantees.

Mykhal Shimechka thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people for their courage in defending their homeland and all of Europe.

“A lot of people in Slovakia appreciate it very much. They pray for a safe, sovereign Ukraine that lives in peace and joins the European Union,” he said.

Myhal Shimechka also noted the importance of Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and the strengthening of Ukrainian-Slovak relations.
