In Berlin, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held talks with the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz.
This meeting is already the third this fall, but the Head of State called it the most important during the entire time of the full-scale Russian invasion.
The President presented the Victory Plan to Olaf Scholz and discussed key aspects of the Plan with the Chancellor.
“This Plan is a bridge to a productive Peace Summit that will truly put an end to the war. That is, this Plan is not a substitute for our peace initiative, but rather to strengthen Ukraine’s position for the sake of getting closer to peace,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state thanked Germany and personally Olaf Scholz for the entire range of assistance provided: defense, economic, political, as well as, in particular, for participation in the first Peace Summit and support for the Peace Formula.
“Germany helped us the most with air defense. And this is a fact. This saved thousands of Ukrainian lives and gives our cities and villages protection from Russian terror,” the President noted.
A separate focus of the negotiations is the implementation of the provisions of the bilateral security agreement next year, the work of joint enterprises on the repair of armored vehicles on the territory of Ukraine, and the launch of joint production of weapons. Volodymyr Zelenskyi also offered Olaf Scholz to consider the possibility of financing the Ukrainian production of long-range weapons.
The Chancellor of Germany assured that Germany will continue military support to Ukraine next year.
“In addition, by the end of the year, with the support of our partners: Belgium, Denmark, Norway, we will deliver another package worth 1.4 billion euros to Ukraine. It also contains air defenses – IRIS-T, Skynex, Gepard, howitzers, self-propelled artillery, armored vehicles, combat drones, radars and ammunition,” said Olaf Scholz.
