Today there was a meeting with Donald Trump. Very productive and detailed. I am very grateful. And all in all, it was a busy, long, extremely important week in America.
As we planned, we are going home today after all the necessary negotiations. And all negotiations are exactly what Ukraine needs.
The plan of victory has been presented to America, and we have explained every point. Now, at the level of our teams, we will work to fill every step, every decision we make. Strong positions for Ukraine mean faster peace. Everything that is key for Ukraine is on the partners’ table, everything is being considered. Long-range, defense package, sanctions against Russia, steps regarding Russian assets. We managed to work on all topics. We are preparing for a meeting in Germany within the framework of “Ramstein” – this is a format where, together with our partners, we will follow the content of the points of the Victory Plan. Thanks to President Biden for the invitation.
Yesterday in Washington, the President and I went through all the key things, all the key decisions. Thank you for your desire to implement this way so that Ukraine wins. Thank you for the unprecedented military package and the corresponding decisions – a large package, the volume of almost 8 billion. This will support our soldiers and all our people, including good things for air defense before winter. There were meetings in the US Congress – full support. Both parties, both chambers. Thank you to all the senators, to all the members of the House of Representatives, for the conversations, for the friendly advice and for the questions that really lead to important results, our collective strength and peace through strength.
As we sought from the beginning, the Victory Plan was presented to both presidential candidates. Meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris yesterday, long conversation. And today – Donald Trump, the conversation lasted almost an hour. It is important for Ukraine that America understands Ukraine directly. That’s exactly how it is. This Russian war must be ended, and it must be ended justly, so that no aggressor does anything like Russia again.
We also have new agreements on reconstruction – G7+, more than 30 countries have joined and the European Union. This is analogous to our security format: there was a “seven” security declaration, and based on that we made security agreements – 26 already – that strengthen us while we are not yet in NATO. And now there will be bilateral documents with countries regarding reconstruction, regarding clear steps of each country.
And the most important thing is the front. We did everything dependent on us, on Ukraine, to strengthen ourselves as much as possible. And now, together with our partners, we need to ensure exactly what will bring a just peace closer. Russia must lose this war. Ukraine must win. These are real foundations for common security. Peace through strength.
