On November 13-15, the third preparatory meeting regarding the creation of the international Commission for consideration of applications for Ukraine was held in The Hague, at which the Ukrainian delegation presented its position on the future Commission.
The deputy head of the Office of the President, Iryna Mudra, opened the meeting in online mode and called on the participants to speed up the work on the creation of the Commission.
“I express my gratitude to those countries that share our long journey from the very beginning. 43 states and the EU participate in the Loss Register. At the same time, I am also deeply grateful to the 12 new countries that have now joined our efforts at the preparatory meetings, standing side by side with us in our fight for justice,” she said.
During the meeting, in particular, the analysis of the experience of previous compensation commissions and possible options for the creation of the Commission for consideration of applications for Ukraine, as well as the second edition of the project of the founding document of the Commission were considered.
“The discussion and conclusions of this meeting are another important step on the way to the creation of a comprehensive mechanism for consideration of compensation claims related to the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine,” concluded Iryna Mudra.
The first preparatory meeting was held this year in July, the second in September. The fourth is scheduled for January 2025. It is after it that official negotiations on the conclusion of an international agreement on the establishment of the Commission for the consideration of applications should begin.
