A meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Donald Tusk took place in Warsaw as a continuation of their conversation in Lviv and in the first weeks of Poland’s presidency of the EU Council.
“Poland’s presidency is a time that we are now entering with ambitions, and from which we will leave with concrete results – results for Ukraine, for Poland, for all of our Europe,” said the Head of State.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi thanked Poland and the entire Polish people for their constant support of Ukraine, defense assistance and respect for Ukrainians currently living in this country.
The President talked about the consequences of today’s Russian attack on Ukrainian energy, in particular on energy facilities in the Lviv region. In response, Poland expressed its readiness to supply electricity to Ukraine.
During the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Donald Tusk discussed in detail defense assistance – the supply and production of weapons and relevant investments. Ukraine has significant opportunities for the production of all types of drones, many types of equipment and artillery.
“We also talked about the possibilities of bringing peace closer to Ukraine and the whole of Europe – in five days the inauguration of President Trump will take place in the USA. We expect active joint work in the spirit of the concept of “peace through strength,” the Head of State emphasized.
According to the President, Ukraine is counting on the strengthening of sanctions against Russia and active joint work in the negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union during the next six months.
“We will work together with Ukraine with our European partners, and, of course, to speed up the accession process,” said the Prime Minister of Poland.
Donald Tusk also assured that Ukraine can count on continued Polish support.
“Today, Poland and Ukraine confirm that one of the main conditions for a good end to this historic road is the possibility of close, close cooperation based on friendship and common interests, the common road of Poland and Ukraine,” he added.
The Prime Minister also expressed readiness to hold the 2026 International Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine in Poland.
