A meeting of the Congress of local and regional authorities under the President of Ukraine was held in Lviv, where the results of this year’s work and the main areas of activity for the next year were discussed.
The Head of State called community support programs, domestic defense production and foreign policy work of Ukraine fundamental topics of this meeting.
“Stability at the front, stability within Ukraine, stability of relations with our partners – all this is important, and the corresponding steps are foreseen by the working documents of stability – at the level of the Office, the government, the parliament. I ask all of you to do your best to support the front, the families of our soldiers, as well as the industries involved in defense needs,” said the President.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the situation in different directions of the front and separately – in the territory of the Kursk region.
“For the third day, the enemy is carrying out intensive offensive actions on the territory of the Kursk region. It is actively used by units of the North Korean army. North Korean mercenaries have already suffered heavy losses. The Ukrainian defenders are firmly holding the defense and destroying the enemy’s personnel and equipment,” noted the Chief of the Armed Forces.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, emphasized that the Internal Stability Plan, which Volodymyr Zelenskyi presented in the parliament, includes, in particular, the functioning of stable and capable communities.
“In particular, I want to note the adoption of the Law “On International Territorial Cooperation of Ukraine” in April of this year, which provided an opportunity for close cooperation not only to border regions, but also to territorial communities from all corners of Ukraine, which will contribute to a wider and more effective involvement of international aid.” he remarked.
According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the government’s work is focused on eight key areas: financial stability, recovery, defense, medicine, education, passing the heating season, social support and business support. In particular, this year the resource of local budgets amounted to over UAH 285 billion, next year it will increase to UAH 328 billion.
“The government constantly pays great attention to regions and communities. We are doing everything to make them strong and capable,” added Denys Shmyhal.
The head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak emphasized that already about 90% of councils at the sessions voted in support of the Victory Plan.
He called on representatives of local and regional authorities to continue making all possible efforts and work with foreign elites and societies.
“Allies and partners are determined to continue helping us. The next defense and sanctions packages are clear evidence. We are establishing an active dialogue with the administration of President-elect Donald Trump. And I can tell you that President Trump’s team is clearly aware of the importance of Ukraine for global security,” noted Andriy Yermak.
A total of 280 participants attended the meeting, with more than 1,400 members of Congress, as well as the ambassadors of the United States, France, Denmark, Austria, and Greece joining online.
