The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, took part in a meeting of the International Trust Fund (ITF) in Slovenia, a humanitarian organization engaged in the reconstruction and development of countries affected by conflicts.
Among the participants of the event are the President of Slovenia Natasha Pirc Musar, the First Gentleman Ales Musar and the First Deputy Prime Minister – the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliya Svyridenko.
Olena Zelenska emphasized that the meeting is taking place on the thousandth day of the full-scale Russian invasion.
“Total Russian shelling in recent days, mourning in my native Kryvyi Rih for a family in which three children and a mother died… Ukraine has been living in such realities for a thousand days due to a full-scale Russian attack,” the first lady said.
According to her, Russian invaders destroyed or damaged 380 houses in Kharkiv alone during the last month.
“That’s why I’m grateful to Slovenia, which announced its intention to sponsor reconstruction projects in the Kharkiv region. But we cannot wait for the end of the war to rebuild. Because people who remain homeless, wrapped only in rescue blankets, must continue to live. And to live with dignity,” the President’s wife emphasized.
She also suggested that the Slovenian foundation join the initiatives implemented by the Elena Zelenska Foundation.
In addition, the First Lady of Ukraine met with the Prime Minister of Slovenia Robert Golob and thanked his country for military and humanitarian aid, the bilateral security agreement concluded in the summer and joining the Joint Declaration on Support for the Restoration and Reconstruction of Ukraine.
In the presence of Olena Zelenska and Robert Golob, three Slovenian clinics immediately concluded memoranda of medical partnership with Ukrainian institutions. The Ljubljana Clinic will cooperate with the Volyn Regional Territorial Medical Association for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood, the Perinatal Clinic of Ljubljana with the Odesa Perinatal Center, the Maribor University Clinical Center with the Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital named after Sklifosovsky.
“The partnership that we started last year at the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen has grown from the first 25 agreements to 54. And it is already saving lives and will continue to save lives,” concluded the wife of the President of Ukraine.
