Patrons from 30 countries already cooperate with the Elena Zelenska Foundation. The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, announced this in an interview with the largest Dutch women’s magazine Libelle.
Olena Zelenska told journalist Victoria Koblenko about the country’s life in the conditions of Russian aggression and the efforts that Ukraine makes to support people during the war. The first lady paid special attention to the mental health program “How are you?”, which is being implemented on her initiative.
“In crisis situations, it is important to have self-regulation skills. That is why we organized trainings for more than 100,000 employees. Everyone who works directly with people, from postal staff to firefighters, must be able to recognize mental crises and refer people to specialists,” said Olena Zelenska.
In addition, the first lady spoke about the projects that her Foundation implements for Ukrainian men and women. One of them is the construction of houses for large foster families. In total, there are already 14 such residential buildings, and the search for donors for the construction of new ones continues. They are also looking for partners to help restore the hospital in Izyum. For example, the football stadium in Gostomel was restored thanks to the Bayern football club.
“One of my favorite projects is the School of Superheroes. We create learning spaces in hospitals where children receive long-term treatment so they can continue learning. It also has a psychological effect: children respond better to treatment. We have already financed the creation of six such centers this year, but we want to expand them,” the first lady added.
Separately, Olena Zelenska thanked everyone who helps Ukraine and called on the international community to act more actively, because this is our joint struggle.
“There are many pessimistic voices about the future of humanity – they say that people are inhumane and do not help each other. But I hope that the defense of Ukraine against the Russian attacker will prove the opposite. Because many countries are doing it, and many people in the world are proving the exact opposite, supporting Ukraine not only with sympathy, but also with active help,” the first lady said.
