Finland has approved the 26th package of defense support for Ukraine and has already started forming the next one. This was announced by the President of the country, Alexander Stubb, during a telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
The head of the Ukrainian state thanked Finland for its principled and constant support for the protection of independence and people since the beginning of a full-scale war.
The President of Ukraine informed about the consequences of the massive Russian attack on the country’s energy infrastructure this morning and spoke about the need for additional air defense systems and means.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Oleksandr Stubb for his willingness to help strengthen Ukrainian air defense.
During the conversation, the leaders discussed what steps are needed to end the war in a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and to prevent any possibility of a repeat of Russian aggression. The presidents emphasized the need for real security guarantees for Ukraine.
Particular attention was paid to the future membership of Ukraine in the EU and NATO. Finland’s clear position that only Ukrainians have the right to determine the future of their state is important for Ukraine.
