In Lviv, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with the Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk, during which they discussed coordination of work with partners, joint achievements and understanding.

“It is very important that Ukraine and Poland act in such a way as to support each other’s efforts. It always strengthens us. I am glad that there is cooperation between our ministries of culture on historical issues between our states, there are meetings, there is joint work, it has started, there is progress in this,” said the President.

Detailed attention to situations on the battlefield and in diplomacy. The head of state emphasized that there is a common vision that Ukraine needs a just peace, strengthening and a strong position.

“All of us in Europe need more than just a pause in hostilities, not just something temporary or uncertain. We need a strong joint position – all partners, and we need real peace. And the main thing is that this kind of peace – peace thanks to strength – can be ensured,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy added.

In addition, during the meeting, expectations from Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union next year and cooperation in the supply of weapons for defense at the front were discussed.

Separately, the President thanked Poland for the assistance provided to Ukraine and support for the aspiration to become a full member of NATO.

“Poland understands how important it is in our part of Europe that security is truly guaranteed and that there is no geopolitical uncertainty,” he said.

Donald Tusk emphasized that Ukraine can always count on support from Poland, in particular on the way to the EU and NATO.

“Our history is both complex and beautiful. There were many positives and negatives in our relationship. But this is the story of peoples who, in a moment of trial, turned out to understand the historical moment, which is Russia’s attack: Poland’s help to Ukraine and Ukraine’s struggle. This is a great thing that was born between our peoples,” the Prime Minister noted.

According to him, Poland is preparing the implementation of the project of equipping Ukrainian brigades. Donald Tusk will discuss this with other European partners, in particular from the Baltic and Scandinavian countries.
