Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Mudra met with the representative of the Council of Europe responsible for the implementation of human rights, justice and standards of legal cooperation, Lilia Gretasdottir.
During the meeting, progress in the implementation of Council of Europe standards in the legal sphere was noted, and further cooperation was discussed.
Iryna Mudra thanked the experts of the Council of Europe for supporting Ukraine at all stages of legal European integration.
“Despite the full-scale war, Ukraine actively continues to fulfill its international obligations, having achieved a noticeable result in the direction of judicial reform and protection of human rights. Experts of the Council of Europe have been actively involved in the processes of reforming the justice system for many years. We will continue to need effective advisory and technical support for all components of this reform,” she emphasized.
Among other things, during the meeting, they discussed cooperation with the Council of Europe to adapt Ukrainian legislation to European standards, in particular regarding the full implementation of the Rome Statute.
A separate focus of the conversation is steps to bring to justice all those guilty of Russian aggression and pay compensation to the affected Ukrainian men and women.
