Continuation of aid to Ukraine and steps to bring a just peace closer: a meeting with an Austrian diplomat took place in the President’s Office

Ihor Zhovkva met with the General Secretary of the Federal Ministry for European and Foreign Affairs of Austria Nikolaus Marshik.

During the meeting, they discussed the expansion of Austria’s support for Ukraine in continuation of the talks between President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Federal Chancellor of Austria Karl Neghammer in Paris.

Ihor Zhovkva thanked Austria for the humanitarian and financial aid provided to Ukraine and for the temporary shelter of our people, and also spoke about the activities of the newly created Ministry of National Unity.

Separately, the deputy head of the President’s Office emphasized that it is important to coordinate the common position of European countries regarding ways to achieve a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.

During the meeting, they also discussed the continuation of aid in humanitarian demining and the participation of Austrian companies in reconstruction projects.

The Austrian diplomat assured of continued support for Ukraine, and also expressed readiness to contribute to the rapid progress of Ukraine in the negotiations on the acquisition of membership in the EU.

Ihor Zhovkva noted the decision of the Austrian OMV to terminate the contract with Gazprom for the supply of Russian gas to Austria.

“This was a fundamental change in your country’s approach to the energy sector and a significant contribution to Europe’s energy independence from Russian energy sources,” he emphasized.

Ihor Zhovkva also invited Austria to join the G7 Joint Declaration on support for Ukraine and to consider the possibility of concluding a bilateral agreement.
